Information Minister to Strengthen State Media Institutions’ Proactive and Effective Role

Newly-appointed Minister of Information H.E Neth Pheaktra has visited the five General Departments under the ministry on his first few days of office, unveiling plan to strengthen state media institutions to be more proactive and effective so as to bring real images of Cambodia to the public, both national and international.

“As the Minister of Information, my primary focus is on the institutional and administrative modernisation to make the Ministry of Information a public relations institution of the Royal Government of Cambodia,” he said.

H.E. Minister laid stress on the importance of spreading the truth about Cambodia to the national and international community, saying that it lets people know about the latest progress of the country under peace.

The state media institutions include the Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP), the National Television of Cambodia (TVK), and the National Radio of Cambodia (RNK). They are all are under the Ministry of Information.

The other two General Departments of the Ministry of Information are the General Department of Information and Broadcasting and the General Department of Administration and Finance.
