HWPL to highlight core initiatives in 2nd Nat’l Peace Convention

MANILA: The Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) Philippines announced on Monday that it is all set for the 2nd National Peace Convention to be held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City on April 20, 2024.

Themed “A Symposium of Peace Legislation, Peace Education, and Religious and Cultural Harmony,” the event aims to gather policymakers, educators, media, and religious leaders to showcase progress made across three core initiatives since the 1st National Peace Convention held in January last year, HWPL PH Chief Branch Manager John Rommel Garces said in a press briefing at the PICC.

“We have three main initiatives which are law for peace, peace education, and alliance of religion,” Garces said.

One of the expected attendees of the peace convention is Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) who will deliver a keynote speech on peacebuilding through education and rule of law.

Various regions and municip
alities nationwide that have passed resolutions of support for HWPL’s Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War will also be awarded at the event.

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Z. Duterte and Commissioner Ronald L. Adamat of the Commission on Higher Education will (CHED) will deliver their speeches on peace education initiatives being implemented nationwide.

Schools Division Offices in Laguna, Southern Leyte, and Cotabato City will be recognized for their efforts, along with a ceremonial turnover of the peace education textbooks they have produced.

The event will culminate with a historic Joint Agreement of Solidarity to be signed by religious leaders, affirming a shared commitment to peace and interfaith dialogue.
