KUALA LUMPUR: Global technology company, HCLTech announced the creation of a new Singapore-based artificial intelligence (AI)/Cloud Native Lab, its fifth lab in its global network, which is expected to open in 2025. HCLTech Chairperson, Roshni Nadar Malhotra made the announcement at an event with attendance of Singapore’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information, and the country’s Economic Development Board (EDB), along with senior academic members from Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, HCLTech Chief Technology Officer and Head of Ecosystems, Vijay Guntur, stated that the labs are designed to be starting points for enterprises aiming to develop blueprints for AI and Gen AI-led efficiencies and other capabilities. He expressed excitement about adding Singapore to HCLTech’s network, emphasizing the enhancement of Singapore’s role as a regional hub for AI innovation.
The lab will be supported by the EDB and will assist enterprises in the region in accelera
ting their AI initiatives through HCLTech’s integrated AI offerings, including AI Force and AI Foundry. The collaboration with Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic aims to transfer knowledge and nurture talent in AI.
Singapore has made advances in AI adoption and innovation across various sectors, including financial services, manufacturing, and SMEs. The Singapore government launched the Singapore National AI Strategy 2.0 in 2023, reflecting its commitment to building a trusted and responsible AI ecosystem.
HCLTech has a longstanding presence in Singapore, operating for over four decades, and has contributed to technological advancements in the region. The republic serves as the hub for HCLTech’s Southeast Asia operations and has been involved in significant projects, including Asia’s first Wi-Fi-based patient tracking system and initiatives for the Singapore government.
