HARUMANIS MANGOES AMONG MAIN ATTRACTIONS AT AGROFIESTA 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: Agricultural products synonymous with Perlis, particularly the fragrant Harumanis mango and mango-based products, were among the main attractions at the Agrofiesta 2024 held at a supermarket here.

The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) announced that eight metric tons of Harumanis mangoes were brought in from Perlis for the event, alongside agro based products such as Harumanis ice cream, Harumanis tarts, Harumanis glutinous rice, mango chocolates, and mango shakes.

“Agrofiesta 2024 provides 30 sales lots benefiting 17 entrepreneurs. The programme targets 25,000 visitors with expected sales of RM500,000 over three days,” FAMA stated in a press release today.

The opening of Agrofiesta 2024 was officiated by Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security secretary-general, Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, and attended by FAMA chairman and director-general, Aminuddin Zulkipli and Abdul Rashid Bahri, respectively.

The three-day event at AEON Alpha Angle Wangsa Maju, which began last Friday, also
features Sala mangoes, pomelos, honey jackfruit (J33), sweet corn, and pulasan, a fruit closely related to rambutans.

Agrofiesta 2024, which provides a platform for the promotion of local agricultural products, aligns with FAMA’s primary role of marketing agri-food products and simultaneously expanding the market to ensure easy access to such products.

“Agrofiesta 2024 also helps entrepreneurs improve their business skills and compete better, while encouraging young people to venture into agriculture-based marketing opportunities.

‘While many businesses are moving online nowadays, it’s still clear that in-person sales and promotional events have a bigger impact in terms of customer acceptance and confidence because they can talk directly to the vendors,” the statement said.

Agrofiesta is aalso giving out RM11,000 worth of vouchers to users of the Agrobazaar Online platform, with an RM10 voucher redeemable for every purchase of RM30 or more.

There are various activities and attractive prizes as well, such
as performances by buskers, Kahoot Games, fruit guessing, quizzes, and children’s colouring contests.
