Hajiji Reminds District Officers To Maintain Integrity, Facilitate Public Affairs

TUARAN, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor today reminded district officers and deputy district officers in the state to maintain integrity and transparency and facilitate public affairs.

Hajiji said he received numerous complaints and reports from the public regarding the officers’ integrity and transparency, claiming that some officers are delaying matters important to the people.

He urged the officers to understand and give serious attention in carrying out their duty to assist the people.

“I have detailed information about this matter, so I request that transparency and integrity be enhanced. Facilitate the people’s affairs…if possible, resolve their issues within one or two days, not taking one or two months, as this will impact our efforts to assist the people.

“I will not compromise if it’s proven that there is an intentional effort to delay projects for the people or to seek opportunities to gain profits from the projects. I will take action against these district and assistant district o
fficers if they fail to carry out their duties,” he said when delivering a speech at today’s opening of the 27th Sabah District Officers Conference 2024.

Sabah Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim was also present.

Hajiji said he also received reports that some officers were withholding information from elected representatives in their areas, including those about development projects, particularly small-scale projects for the people, saying that such information is crucial so that projects and programmes aimed at helping the people can be implemented smoothly and effectively.

“Do not blame the elected representatives for such shortcomings, as this reflects the incompetence of these officers. Perform your duties well as there is much more to be done now, especially in addressing poverty and extreme poverty in Sabah,” he said.

Hajiji said small-scale projects at the district level must be given serious attention because they provide infrastructure facilities and help lift people out of poverty.
