Govt’s Initiatives, Policies To Drive Sustainable Economic Growth

JOHOR BAHRU, The government’s strategic implementation of transformative policies and initiatives, including the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), is fueling the creation of high-skilled job opportunities, boosting incomes, and setting the stage for a sustainable and resilient economy.

Mohd Khalid Mohamed Latiff, executive director of the MADANI Monitoring Unit at the Ministry of Finance (MOF), said these efforts by the government have begun to bear fruit.

As such, he hopes that the Southern Zone 2024 MADANI Rakyat Programme which kicked off today will help to raise the public’s awareness of the government’s initiatives and policies, particularly under the MADANI Economic Framework.

‘We want to showcase the achievements under the MADANI economic framework, including the NIMP 2030, the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), and many other government initiatives and policies that have been implemented.

‘These efforts focused on advanced technology, innovation, and enhancing the global competi
tiveness of our industries,” he told Bernama during an interview at the MoF’s booth at the event, held at Dataran UTM, Skudai, here.

Mohd Khalid also highlighted the government-linked investment companies’ (GLIC) significant contribution to the nation’s economic growth.

Last week, the MoF announced the implementation of the GEAR-uP programme, where six GLICs have collectively pledge to invest RM120 billion in domestic direct investments over the next five years under the first phase of the programme, in addition to their RM440 billion investments in public capital markets.

According to the statement from the ministry, these investments will target high-growth, high-value industries such as the energy transition and advanced manufacturing sectors, especially semiconductors.

The investments will also involve startups, venture capital, and mid-level companies, ultimately supporting the public listing of these companies.

Meanwhile, visitors to the three-day Southern Zone 2024 MADANI Rakyat Programme which st
arts today will be able to explore a wide range of public services following the participation of 34 ministries and government agencies.
