JERTIH: The government will expand the Kampung Angkat MADANI programme to 200 villages nationwide next year, up from 100 villages this year. Treasury secretary-general Datuk Johan Mahmood Marican announced the expansion, highlighting an RM200 million allocation for the initiative, based on positive feedback from various quarters.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the increase in the number of adopted villages aligns with the government’s strategy for ministries and departments to engage at the grassroots level, enabling them to understand and address local issues promptly. Datuk Johan Mahmood Marican shared these insights with reporters after officiating the Ministry of Finance’s (MOF) Kampung Angkat MADANI Carnival at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung La in Hulu Besut.
Johan emphasized that ministries and departments, including the MOF, will leverage such programmes to cater to the needs of residents in their respective areas. For instance, in Hulu Besut, MOF has constructed four permanent flood relief centr
es across four villages to assist residents during the flood season. Additionally, 25 boats are on standby for flood response across 10 villages, with facilities amounting to a total value of RM2.5 million.
Meanwhile, Johan Mahmood noted that the Kampung Angkat MADANI Carnival, held from Thursday until today, offered local residents access to a variety of government services, including health screenings.
