Govt Agencies, GLCs Urged To Collaborate, Develop Digital Econonmy In Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, Government agencies and government-linked companies (GLCs) in Sabah are urged to collaborate to support the state government’s efforts to develop the digital economy and telecommunications technology sectors, which are now focused on bringing in innovations and investments.

State Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif said this strategic partnership is essential to transforming Sabah and Malaysia into a high-income state and country by 2030 through the digital economy, in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Roadmap.

“The involvement of government agencies and GLCs is required to support other initiatives such as smart cities, smart rural connections, smart campuses, smart agriculture, smart education and smart buildings,” he said in a statement here today.

Mohd Arifin said in empowering education with digital technology, the state government has also launched the Sabah Education Sponsorship Portal (https://ptps.sabah.gov.my) which gathers all the main spo
nsors of education in the state under one portal.

“This is an initiative by the state government under SMJ in empowering assistance to Sabah-born children especially those pursuing higher studies.

Excellence in education will be a catalyst for improving the quality of people’s lives,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Arifin said the state government will always work with the Ministry of Education through the Sabah Education Department in realising the government’s agenda towards empowering and improving the excellence and quality of education in the state.

“The effort includes improving and enhancing the education infrastructure in the state, in line with the state government’s commitment to producing skilled, excellent and competitive human capital,” he said
