Gavin Records Best Olympic Finish At Paris 2024

PARIS, Although not bringing home a medal, national professional golfer Gavin Green deserves praise for finishing 33rd out of 58 players in the men’s individual event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games today.

The 30-year-old, making his third appearance at the prestigious event, previously finished 47th and 57th at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics, respectively.

Gavin, however, had to share the position with Paraguay’s Fabrizio Zanotti as both amassed a total of three-under-par 281, with Gavin completing two-under-par 69 in the fourth round today.

The round saw him bogey three times at the second, fourth, and 17th holes while scoring birdies at the third, seventh, ninth, 10th, and 11th holes.

“It was an up-and-down day, but it was solid overall. A little up and down, slow start, but you know it’s a good recovery, and to finish under par on this golf course, I’ll take it.

“There’s a few things that I wasn’t happy about, like my driving, so there’s some things to work on, but it was quite a successful Ol
ympics,” he told reporters at the Le Golf National, here.

Earlier, Scottie Scheffler of the United States won the gold medal with 19-under-par 265, while Great Britain’s Tommy Fleetwood took silver with 18-under-par 266.

The bronze medal went to Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, who recorded 17-under-par 267.
