Free Wi-Fi to improve access to info, dev’ts in Dinagat town

The local government unit (LGU) of Cagdianao in Dinagat Islands announced on Friday the availability of free public Wi-Fi in six strategic areas in the town.

‘The free public Wi-Fi is now fully installed in Cagdianao, which will improve our connectivity and bring economic opportunities to our town,’ the LGU said in a statement Friday.

It added that the free connectivity, facilitated by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) 13 (Caraga) would allow the town’s entrepreneurs and small businesses to connect with larger markets, access online banking services, and engage in e-commerce, which will lead to the growth of businesses in the town.

The six strategic areas with free Wi-Fi are the vicinity of the Municipal Hall, the Cagdianao Cultural and Sports Center, the town’s Legislative Building, the Cagdianao Plaza, the Old Municipal Hall, and the Tigbao Health Center.

The LGU said it sees more positive impacts of free connectivity, such as providing students access to online educati
onal resources, conducting research for their studies, and connecting with educational institutions outside the Dinagat Islands.

With the free Wi-Fi, town residents will have easier access to online government services and stay informed on the continuing programs and services of the LGU, it added.
