malaysiangThe Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) is reminding the public, especially indigent Filipinos, that it offers free medical consultations at its main office. “Nais lang nating ipaalala sa ating mga kababayan na mayroon tayong Multi-Specialty Clinic na maaari nilang puntahan para makapagpakonsulta sa kanilang mga karamdaman. Libre po ang serbisyo na ito (We just want to remind our people that we have a Multi-Specialty Clinic where they can consult their ailments. The services here are free),” PCSO chairman Junie E. Cua said in a statement on Thursday. The multi-specialty clinic under the agency’s Medical Services Department is based at the PCSO Main Office along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City. The clinic, which opened last April, has specialists in cardiology, neurology and psychiatry, pulmonology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology and ear, nose and throat (ENT). Cua said the multi-specialty clinic was conceived to supplement the public’s access to health services. He pointed out that the cost and time constraint of going from one specialist to another in different hospitals deter many Filipinos, especially the poor, from consulting doctors to get a proper diagnosis. “Marami sa ating mga kababayan ang hindi nagpapakonsulta dahil may bayad ang ganitong serbisyo, at mas pinipili nilang gamitin ang kanilang pera sa ibang gastusin gaya ng pagkain, edukasyon at pamasahe (Many of our countrymen shun consultations because you have to pay for these services, and they would rather use their money on other expense like food, education and fare),’ he noted. ‘Pero napakahalagang salik ng kalusugan ang pagpapakonsulta para matukoy kung may sakit tayo at ano. Mahalaga ang early diagnosis para maiwasan ang paglala ng sakit (Getting a consultation is an integral part of our well-being and to determine if we have illness or what. Early diagnosis is crucial in preventing ailments from worsening)” Cua said. With the PCSO’s multi-specialty clinic, he said patients suffering from medical disorders involving various medical specializations can be examined and diagnosed in one convenient place for free. He advised those interested in availing of the free consultation to check the PCSO’s social media page for updates on the schedules and requirements. Cua added that the PCSO is seriously considering expanding its free consultation services across the whole country. “Ideally, we want to be able to establish the Multi-Specialty Clinic in all our branches.
