Forest Reserve, Eco Rimba Park Activities In Pahang Temporarily Suspended


KUANTAN, The Pahang Forestry Department has temporarily suspended all recreational activities in Eco Rimba Parks, state forest parks, forest reserves, and ecotourism areas in the state, in light of the upcoming monsoon season next month.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the department said that the temporary closure, which began yesterday and will remain in effect until further notice, however, does not apply to the Mossy Forest in Cameron Highlands.

‘All types of recreational activities, including mountain climbing, extreme vehicle sports, cave exploration and other leisure activities, are prohibited during this period.

‘Visitors who fail to comply with this notice will face legal action under the National Forestry Act 1984. For any inquiries, please contact the department at 09-5732911/2914,’ the statement read.

In an earlier media report, Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) deputy director-general (Operations), Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip was quoted saying that the Northe
ast Monsoon (MTL) is expected to occur early next month based on climatological factors.
