MANILA: The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) is inviting the Filipino people to participate in the ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ (New Philippines) kick-off rally at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila City on Jan. 28.
‘Halina at maging parte ng pagbabago para sa ating sarili, komunidad, at bayan (Come and be part of the change for ourselves, the community, and the nation),’ the PCO said on its official Facebook page.
The kick-off rally on Sunday will start at 6 p.m. and is expected to be graced by no less than President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., PCO Secretary Cheloy Garafil said in a statement Tuesday.
Garafil said various government officials, celebrities and other personalities would also attend the Bagong Pilipinas rally, adding that various artists would perform beginning 3 p.m.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) urged motorists to avoid Rizal Park and all roads leading to the venue and take alternate routes to avoid inconvenience on Sunday.
The MMDA said Roxas Boulevard from UN Avenue to
P. Burgos Ave. will be closed to traffic, including M. Kalaw (both sides from Roxas Blvd. to Taft Ave.); Burgos Ave. (both sides and Finance Road (Rd.); Orosa Street (St.); and Bonifacio Drive (Dr.) – from Anda Circle to P. Burgos Ave.
Garafil said the kick-off rally will also be livestreamed.
In his New Year’s message, Marcos emphasized the Filipinos’ role in attaining the ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ campaign of the administration to usher the country towards change and development.
Marcos said one of the best steps toward a New Philippines is the individual and community involvement, stressing that it could only be achieved with the Filipino people’s participation.
In July last year, Malacañang issued a memorandum, ordering the adoption of the administration’s “Bagong Pilipinas” brand of governance and leadership campaign which calls for a deep and fundamental transformation in all sectors of society and government and fosters the government’s commitment towards the attainment of comprehensive policy reforms and
full economic recovery.
