Fahmi Delivers Malaysia Day 2024 Official Invitation To Tun Juhar

KOTA KINABALU, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today paid a courtesy call on the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin to deliver an official invitation in conjunction with national level Malaysia Day 2024 celebration at Istana Seri Kinabalu, here.

The meeting which lasted about 30 minutes was also attended by Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew who is also co-chairman of the Malaysia Day 2024 Celebration Main Committee and Ministry of Communications secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Fahmi, who is also the chairman of the 2024 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) Main Committee, said Tun Juhar also presented some views to ensure the celebration is remembered by all Malaysians.

“We welcome Tun Juhar’s suggestions and recommendations. God willing, we will implement them.

“The celebration of Malaysia Day reminds us of the importance of the involvement of all Malaysians in a spirit of patriotism to understand the
formation of Malaysia. Today, Datuk Christina and I will visit the site to see the level of preparations (Malaysia Day celebration), so far, we believe that all preparations are proceeding well and smoothly,” he said.

Fahmi hopes that Malaysia Day on Sept 16 can be celebrated in the spirit of love for the country.

He also expects many people to turn up to celebrate Malaysia Day at Padang Merdeka in Kota Kinabalu which will present a variety of interesting events including fireworks and performances by local artists.

“We will set up a big screen for people to watch. (On) that day (is) the beginning of the school holidays, so we expect many people to be in Sabah,” he said.

He said for the Malaysia Day celebration, a total of 3,000 official invitations were distributed and the celebration will also be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
