Expedite construction of flood victims’ houses in Kampung Puom – MB NS

SEREMBAN, Feb 18 — The Negeri Sembilan government hopes that the reconstruction of the houses of flood victims in Kampung Puom, Jelebu can be expedited, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

He said his office had completed the land matters for the eight houses involved through the Jelebu District Office and hoped the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department could expedite the construction.

“Their houses (flood victims) have been approved for construction. The state government has provided a suitable site through the Jelebu District Office.

“The State Development Office will receive the allocation and hope it can be expedited for construction,” he told reporters after handing over electrical goods donations to flood victims from SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM Environment) here today.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Dr Razali Ab Malik and SWM Environment Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Ho De Leong.

Aminuddin said the families of the flood victims who lost their homes due to floods in December are still living temporarily at the family’s house, while some were renting and staying for free.

He said the estimated reconstruction cost of RM56,000 per house was borne by the federal government while the state government allocated RM200,000 for the construction of infrastructures such as providing sites, roads, lights and drains.

Meanwhile, SWM Environment distributed electrical assistance to 1,250 flood victims in need in the state.

Meanwhile, Ho said a total of RM750,000 had been allocated for the post-flood relief mission this time which involved three states, namely Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor with a target of 3,050 families.

The basic electrical necessities such as refrigerators, multi-purpose rice cookers, table fans, food blenders and gas stoves will be distributed to all families of flood victims in the state.

The company also donated 250 high-pressure water jets to local authorities and related agencies to facilitate the public in the event of a flood disaster in the future.
