Endrick Confident Harimau Malaya Players Can Adapt To Vicente’s Playing Style

PETALING JAYA, Naturalised player Endrick dos Santos is confident the Harimau Malaya squad can adapt to the playing style implemented by head coach Pau Marti Vicente ahead of next week’s Merdeka Football Tournament 2024.

The 29-year-old player said although it’s still too early to assess its effectiveness, he believes there is not much difference in the playing style adopted by Vicente, who used to assist former head coach Kim Pan Gon.

“Almost the same (style)… I think they have the same idea. We just follow any instructions given, so I don’t think we will have any difficulties to cope with the (training methods of) the coach (Vicente),’ he said during the training session at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya here today.

Dos Santos, who also plays as a midfielder with Ho Chi Minh City FC, also hopes that whoever is in the starting lineup will give their best to make sure coach Vicente gets off to a winning start.

“We have a lot of good players and we are here to help Malaysia,” he said.

Malaysia will take on the
Philippines in the semi-finals of the Merdeka Tournament at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Wednesday (Sept 4) in what will be Vicente’s debut as head coach of the national team since being appointed to replace Pan Gon, who resigned last month.

The other semi-final will see defending champions Tajikistan taking on Lebanon on the same date and at the same venue.
