E50 Award 2024 Tonight To Honour Malaysia’s Outstanding MSMEs

A total of 50 outstanding micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Malaysia will be announced tonight as winners of the prestigious Enterprise 50 (E50) Award 2024.

The Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP), in a joint statement with SME Corp Malaysia and Deloitte Malaysia, stated that the award, themed ‘Celebrating Malaysia’s Enterprising Spirit’ and now in its 24th edition, has successfully showcased resilient and competitive MSMEs.

It stated that the organisation of the award has also succeeded in highlighting MSMEs capable of facing global challenges with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, while also enhancing their company branding.

SME Corp Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Bernard Giluk Dompok said for the first time this year, a special award – the Best E50 Award for ESG Practice – has been introduced to recognise MSMEs that actively integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices into their business agenda.

‘Of the 50 MSMEs that will be announced as winners, 10
will be the top recipients. Additionally, three special awards will be presented, namely the E50 Best Woman Entrepreneur Award, the Best E50 Award for Exporter and the E50 Best E50 Award for ESG Practice, which is being introduced for the first time,’ he said.

Meanwhile, SME Corp Malaysia chief executive officer Rizal Nainy said that this year saw a total of 122 nominations, the highest ever recorded in the award’s history.

‘However, only 105 companies managed to submit complete documents, qualifying them for further assessment based on financial and non-financial aspects.

‘The majority of award recipients are from the service sector, based in the Klang Valley, and have received four stars under the SME Competitiveness Rating for Enhancement (SCORE) programme,’ he said.

In addition, Rizal stated that this year, 16 companies, representing 32 per cent of the E50 Award recipients, were owned by women.
