Around PHP486,127 worth of humanitarian assistance have been provided to families from the Cordillera who were affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami).
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) said the assistance were provided with the help of local government units and other partners to 866 families comprised of 2,882 members, who are staying in 73 evacuation centers across the region.
Provisions were also given to 294 families, composed of 1,037 individuals, who preferred to stay with friends or relatives, it said.
The DSWD-CAR also reported that they have received at least 1,700 family food packs as augmentation from the DSWD national operations center.
DSWD-CAR director Maria Aplaten, in a message, said their personnel in the municipal and provincial offices are closely coordinating and participating in the relief efforts.
‘We have coordinated actions with the different agencies and offices. We all work together to augment resou
rces and manpower for the sake of the victims of this calamity,’ she said.
Based on the 5 p.m. bulletin of the state weather bureau of Thursday, the region, among other regions in northern Luzon, is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2.
Search and Rescue
Meanwhile, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) of Sabangan town, Mountain Province has deployed four search, rescue and retrieval (SRR) teams to find a 60-year-old male believed to have been swept away by the raging water in the municipality’s river on Thursday.
According to the MDRRC, the information has been relayed to the operations center of nearby Kalinga province, which is the downstream of the Chico River, with Sabangan as headwater.
In another incident, Mayor Marcos Ayangwa of Paracelis town, Mountain Province has ordered the evacuation of residents in Barangay Bunot and other affected areas due to flood from water coming from Mallig River
