DOTr seeks bids for Laguindingan Airport modernization

MANILA: The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has invited contractors from the private sector to submit their proposal for the development and modernization of the Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental province.

In a statement on Friday, the DOTr said the Laguindingan International Airport Project (LIAP) is included in the infrastructure flagship projects of the national government following the approval of an unsolicited proposal from Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. to upgrade, expand, operate and maintain the airport under a public-private partnership (PPP).

The proposal, it said, has been approved and accepted by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board per the provisions of Republic Act 11966, or the PPP Code of the Philippines.

The DOTr and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) called for the submission of comparative proposals from private entities under a ‘comparative challenge process’ to finance, design, construct, operate, and maintain the LIAP under a 30-year
concession period.

‘The airport development project will also include aviation strategy for new airlines and new connections including development of international flights; expansion of the airport’s capacity according to market demand; and introduction of new concepts of sustainability and connectivity to improve the environmental and operational performance of the airport,’ it said.

Once completed, the project is seen to improve passenger experience and implement commercial services in the extended terminal and on the landside.

Those interested can coordinate with the DOTr Pre-Qualifications Bids, and Awards Committee (PBAC) through the BAC Secretariat.

A letter to the BAC Secretariat and the PBAC should be sent to Unit 62, Columbia Tower, Ortigas Ave., Brgy. Wack-Wack, Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

They may also be reached by telephone at (02) 8790-8300 loc. 6201 or email at [email protected] with cc to [email protected]. (PNA)
