DBKL DISTRIBUTES 32,500 JALUR GEMILANG TO ENLIVEN NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATIONS

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has distributed 32,500 Jalur Gemilang in various sizes to government agencies, higher education institutions, non-governmental organisations, public housings, traders and hawkers associations and taxi drivers, among others, in conjunction with this year’s National Day celebrations.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Kamarulzaman Mat Salleh said besides that a total of 3,000 Jalur Gemilang buntings have been put up along the major roads in the city such as Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

“DBKL has also taken the initiative to display National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations messages on its LED screens namely at Menara DBKL, Dataran Merdeka as well as on screens belonging to the private sector and on the Variable Message signboards (VMS) around Kuala Lumpur.

“For the same purpose, DBKL also distributed a circular to 180 building owners in the city centre to fly the Jalur Gemilang and illuminate their respective premises with decorative lights,” he said at the handing over of the Jalur Gemilang at Menara DBKL, today.

According to Kamarulzaman various programmes will be held in conjunction with the National Month such as the Special Merdeka Edition of the KL Car Free Morning, DBKL housing football carnival, a colouring contest, scheduled on Aug 13 at Stadium Titiwangsa and the Ambang Merdeka Concert at Dataran Merdeka on Aug 30.

“I hope these programmes can revitalise the feeling of independence and sense of identity among the city folk and I hope they take the opportunity to participate to express their love for the country,” he added.
