Datasonic Accelerating Global Expansion To Elevate Presence, Diversify Revenue

KUALA LUMPUR, Datasonic Group Bhd, a leading provider of security-related integrated information and communication technology (ICT) solutions in Malaysia, is accelerating global expansion to elevate its presence and diversify revenue streams.

Executive director Datuk Ab Hamid Mohamad Hanipah stated that the group is actively exploring new opportunities in key regions including Asia, Africa, and the Middle East while capitalising on its technical expertise and proven track record.

‘To support our expansion, we are pursuing synergistic collaborations with regional and local industry partners to drive future growth and deliver greater value to our stakeholders.

‘In addition to our national security solutions, we are advancing our expertise in emerging sectors, which include providing cutting-edge solutions that align with evolving global demands in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, data analytics, and other areas where we possess deep technical know-how,’ he said in a statement here today.

Dataso
nic has been the exclusive provider of MyKad since 2012 and a major provider of Europay, Mastercard, and Visa (EMV) chip-based credit and debit cards in Malaysia since 2003. The company is also one of the few regional players capable of producing 100 percent polycarbonate data pages in-house.

Ab Hamid emphasised that Datasonic has been actively pursuing new programmes and initiatives on both the local and international fronts throughout the year.

‘In May, we secured our first overseas e-passport project in a West African country, highlighting our robust technical capabilities, especially our in-house produced polycarbonate documents.

‘We’ve also successfully developed an International Civil Aviation Organisation-compliant passport incorporating the latest high-security designs and features within a short timeframe, for which delivery of the e-passports commenced in September,’ he explained.

Additionally, Datasonic secured a contract in July to supply smart cards to Perum Percetakan Negara Republik Indones
ia (PNRI), a state-owned printing entity under Indonesian’s Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises.

He added that the RM30 million contract over three years would strengthen Datasonic’s position in the e-passport market and leverage its expertise in smart card technology.

‘These international successes are part of our strategy to scale the business globally and diversify our revenue streams. We continue to see vast opportunities abroad that we can capitalise on,’ he said.
