malaysiangDAVAO CITY: The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) warned residents on Wednesday, especially those living near the rivers and creeks, for possible scattered rainfall due to easterlies.
In an interview, CDRRMO head Alfredo Baloran also warned the residents of high temperatures during the daytime due to the El Niño phenomenon for the entire week.
“Based on our forecast, it may not affect the whole week, but we will have some days with scattered rain showers brought about by the easterlies. For the hot weather, it may be experienced during daytime since we are still in El Niño (situation),” Baloran said.
Meanwhile, Baloran urged Dabawenyos to remain vigilant for possible floods during the rainy days, reminding them to visit the CDRRMO Facebook Page or listen to the radio for weather updates.
‘Always take care and stay alert because the easterlies bring along localized thunderstorms and there is possible heavy rainfall that may result in flooding,” he said.

e city’s Ancillary Services Unit (ASU) also continuously conducts drainage clearing and desilting operations of waterways to address flooding.
ASU chief Paul Bermejo said while the weather has been relatively good since last month, the ASU has been relentless in its drainage rodding operations, particularly in the most flood-prone areas.
Bermejo said a PHP32-million program approved last year for additional equipment will make drainage clearing operations much more efficient for ASU and the City Engineer’s Office.
