CIMB Group appoints Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin as CIMB Thai’s Chairman


KUALA LUMPUR, CIMB Group Holdings Berhad (‘CIMB Group’) has announced the appointment of Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin bin Raja Abdul Aziz as CIMB Thai Bank’s Chairman and Director, effective 19 July 2024. Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin succeeded Dato’ Robert Cheim Dau Meng, who retired.

Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin was appointed as Non-Independent Director of CIMB Group on 1 July 2024. Formerly the Chief Investment Officer at Khazanah Nasional Berhad (‘Khazanah’), he served Khazanah in various senior positions, including Deputy Managing Director and Executive Director of Investments from 2011 to 2022. Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin was also the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airlines from 2009 to 2011, having previously held the position of Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer.
