CHED commits IT manpower support for 2025 midterm polls

Manila: The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on Friday committed to providing information technology (IT) manpower support to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE).

The commitment was made after CHED inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Comelec, which intends to utilize students and personnel from various higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country,

‘I guarantee the skills and competence of the people from our HEIs across the country. We are continuously providing them with opportunities for upskilling and reskilling,’ CHED Chairperson J. Prospero de Vera III said in a statement.

Under the MOA, HEI students and personnel will serve as Manpower Technical Support Personnel and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Technicians for the 2025 NLE.

Qualified HEI students and personnel will undergo training with the Comelec for the technical skills required in the electoral process.

‘I am confident that their skills and knowledge are up to date w
ith new technologies and they will be able to adapt to the pressures in the election process,’ De Vera said.

Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia, meanwhile, said that the poll body has ‘no better’ partner than academic bodies to uphold the integrity of the 2025 polls.
