Budget 2025: Peneka Calls For Continuation Of Cost Of Living Allowance, Diesel Subsidy

KOTA BHARU, The Kelantan Fishermen’s Association (Peneka) has requested that the provision of the cost of living allowance and diesel subsidy be maintained in Budget 2025, which will be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 18 October.

Peneka chairman Mohamad Sham Abd Kadir stated that these two government incentives have helped reduce the financial burden on fishermen, whose incomes are frequently unstable.

He noted that the RM300 cost of living allowance for fishermen and the diesel subsidy of RM1.65 per litre greatly eased their financial difficulties.

‘It also demonstrates the government’s concern for us and we hope these initiatives will be maintained and continued.

‘In addition, I hope the cost of living allowance will be extended to fishermen in Zone C, as it currently benefits only those from Zones A and B,’ he told Bernama recently.

Mohamad Sham added that, to date, there are 3,741 registered fishermen under Peneka.
