Bernama Receives Most Popular News Broadcasting Agency In Public University Award

GEORGE TOWN, The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) was today named the recipient of the Malaysian Public University Special Premier Leadership Award for Most Popular News Broadcasting Agency (Statutory Body) in Public University.

The award was given to the news agency based on surveys, track record, feedback and contributions made to public universities in the country at the Malaysian Public University Administrators Association (MASTI) 2024 Awards Ceremony (MAGMA 24) here today.

Deputy Minister of Higher Education Datuk Mustapha Sakmud presented the award to Penang Bernama Bureau Chief R. Ratcharathan.

MAGMA 24, held in conjunction with the National Administrator’s Day and Public University Administrators Convention 2024, also saw Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) receiving the award for Most Popular News Broadcasting Agency (Government Agency) in Public University.

Penang RTM director Nor Hisham Abbas received the award.

MAGMA aims to share experiences or best practices and give recognition to ou
tstanding public university administrators, national figures and organisations that have made significant contributions to uplift the prestige of public universities and public service.

Speaking to reporters later, Mustapha said Bernama and RTM had indeed helped public universities, among others as a source of reference for students, teaching staff, and the university community as a whole.

‘At the same time, the roles played by MASTI and administrator associations in public universities are still very much relevant towards developing a balanced human capital.

‘In the context of the national vision, the concept of Malaysia MADANI requires all of us, including university administrators, to be able to shape the future with all its potential, taking into account all forms of world-changing ideas, and further steer Malaysia in a better direction,’ he said.

The event also saw the presentation of the Malaysian Public University Excellent Administrator Award in 15 categories, as well as the launch of two books en

Also present were Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Zaliman Sauli, Congress of Union of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) president Datuk Dr Adnan Mat and MASTI president Wan Mohd Wazir Wan Abdul Wahab.
