BARMM’s AMBaG medical aid program supports indigents

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) continues to provide medical assistance to indigent residents through AMBaG (Ayudang Medikal mula sa Bangsamoro Government).

Since its launch in December 2019, PHP886.4 million have been disbursed to assist 189,700 individuals in the region as of September.

AMBaG has partnerships with 34 hospitals in BARMM and 11 outside the region.

‘The directive from BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim is to ensure that health services reach those who cannot afford hospital bills,’ Mohd Asnin Pendatun, program manager of the AMBaG initiative, said during a news conference Tuesday.

Recently, the Datu Halun Sakilan Memorial Hospital in Tawi-Tawi City received PHP5 million to support indigent patients, raising to PHP28 million the funding it has received so far.

AMBaG is working out collaborations with more hospitals nationwide to extend medical services to BARMM residents beyond the region.
