AWCL: PFC Nasaf Edge APF FC 1-0


KOTA KINABALU, Uzbekistan’s PFC Nasaf started their AFC Women’s Champions League (AWCL) Group C campaign on a positive note by defeating APF FC from Nepal 1-0 at Likas Stadium here tonight.

In the first half, both teams were evenly matched, attempting various attacks but failing to find the back of the net.

PFC Nasaf nearly scored in the 19th minute when striker Aziza Norboea’s powerful shot from outside the penalty box narrowly missed.

The second half saw PFC Nasaf from Uzbekistan, coached by Jonimqulova Maftuna, starting strong and launching several attacks on APF FC and they eventually broke the deadlock in the 49th minute with a powerful strike by midfielder Lily Niber Lawrence inside the penalty box.

PFC Nasaf continued to dominate, creating more dangerous chances but failed to beat APF FC’s goalkeeper Anjila Tumbapo Subba thereafter.

Group C action continues on Wednesday (Aug 28) when host Sabah FA take on APF FC, followed by the final group match on Saturday (Aug 31), where PFC Nasaf will face Sa
bah FA. All the group matches are held at Likas Stadium.
