AmanahRaya Unveils Mobile App To Streamline Will Writing Services

KUALA LUMPUR, Amanah Raya Bhd (AmanahRaya) has officially launched its My AmanahRaya mobile application (app), a move aimed at enhancing the accessibility and efficiency of will writing services in Malaysia.

Its group managing director Ahmad Feizal Sulaiman Khan said the app, which also integrates services such as legacy planning and trust management, is designed to provide customers with greater ease and speed in accessing AmanahRaya’s services.

‘With this app, we hope to deliver our services more conveniently and quickly to Malaysians by handling all aspects of will writing, from connecting clients with nearby agents to completing the process entirely within the app,’ he told reporters after the launch event.

Similar to apps offering ride-hailing services, he said that users could press a button to request a will and a qualified agent would be dispatched to handle the process from start to finish.

‘If you decide you need a will, simply open the app, press a button, and an agent will visit you to handle
the entire process, allowing you to pay for the will through the app and receive a hard copy, which eliminates the need to visit our offices,’ he said.

Feizal further explained that the app introduces a new revenue generation avenue by allowing the public to sign up as AmanahRaya agents, which not only creates job opportunities but also extends its reach.

‘It will help create job opportunities and additional income for the public, and as of the end of July, AmanahRaya has registered a total of 1.1 million wills, while managing and administering more than 14,000 estate files valued at RM1.7 billion and 38,000 trust files valued at RM1.3 billion,’ he said.

Group chief business operation officer Jack Yap Ngee Hong said that the app allows anyone to become an agent, subject to passing a qualification exam.

‘When using the app, you can select the option to ‘Join as an Agent’.

‘To become a qualified agent, you must pass a qualifying exam with a high score, demonstrating our commitment to ensuring that agents a
re well-versed in the products they offer,’ he said.

Yap said the app, which was technically ready in June, has so far seen only 45 agents signed up.

‘Although we have thousands of agents, we selected only 45 for the pilot test from June until now to ensure quality over quantity.

‘However, with the official launch today, we expect a significant increase in the number of agents,’ he said.

Yap noted that while the goal is to register 5,000 wills by the end of 2024, achieving this target solely through the app is challenging due to varying demographics, with older generations, in particular, potentially preferring traditional methods.

Meanwhile, Feizal stated that only 5 per cent of Malaysians have wills, a percentage he considers very low for a developing country.

The app was unveiled here today by AmanahRaya chairman Tan Sri Idrus Harun in conjunction with the AmanahRaya group’s Merdeka Month Celebration 2024.

The My AmanahRaya app is now available for download on the Apple App and Google Play stores. F
