AirAsia-Sega Pact Brings ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’, ‘Persona 5’ To The Skies

SEPANG, Malaysia’s low-cost carrier AirAsia today unveiled its branding partnership with the gaming company Sega Corp and its unit Atlus, where its passengers can enjoy the world of popular game characters ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ and ‘Persona 5’ in immersive in-flight experiences.

AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd chief commercial officer Paul Carroll said that under the collaboration, two of AirAsia’s aircraft — Airbus A330 and A320 — would be painted respectively with the iconic gaming ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ and ‘Persona 5’ characters.

‘With this partnership, we have reimagined the in-flight experience by bringing to life the two iconic franchises through our aircraft liveries, inflight catering, and exclusive merchandise.

‘This collaboration goes beyond just painting our planes. It is about creating memorable, immersive experiences that our guests can take with them, from the moment they board to the time they land,” he said during the AirAsia X Sega Sonic the Hedgehog Livery Gate Activation event at Kuala Lumpur
International Airport Terminal 2, here today.

Also present were Sega Corp president and chief operating officer and representative director Shuji Utsumi and AirAsia brand co head of intellectual property development Izal Azlee.

Carroll said both aircraft, painted with the two iconic game characters, would travel across more than 150 destinations within Southeast Asia and beyond, such as Bangkok, Tokyo, Sydney, and Seoul.

‘With Sega and Atlus, we are not just offering flights. We are offering a whole new adventure that we hope will captivate the hearts of both avid gamers and casual travellers alike,’ he added.

The Sonic livery is part of AirAsia’s thrilling ‘The Colour of Connection’ campaign, blending the best of gaming and travel.
