Abang Johari Optimistic Sarawak’s Airline Will Begin Operation Soon

KUALA LUMPUR, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is optimistic that the state’s airline will begin operations within the next two months.

‘The issue concerning our airline could be resolved within two months, and we will have our own aircraft.

‘These planes will facilitate travel for Sarawakians between Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia,’ he said in his speech at the Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2024 dinner at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here today.

Also present were Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Sarawakian members of Parliament.

Abang Johari added that the airline would make it easier for visitors from other regions to travel to the state, thus helping to promote Sarawak’s many tourist attractions.

‘We’ll be able to bring tourists to Sarawak’s two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, namely Gunung Mulu National Park and Niah National Park,’ he said.

Abang Johari had previously said
that Sarawak’s plan to launch its own airline is expected to materialise by the end of this year, a move seen as crucial to boosting the state’s tourism and connectivity.
