Five Filipinos from the West Bank where tensions have been running high amid the Israel-Hamas conflict are scheduled to return to the Philippines Thursday, the Philippine Embassy in Amman said.
The five had crossed the King Hussein Bridge, the border of the West Bank and Jordan, on Nov. 22. They are expected to arrive Nov. 24.
The Philippine government provided transportation to the Filipinos who were fetched at their respective residences in the West Bank and brought to the Allenby border crossing on the Israeli side.
They were met and assisted by embassy officers and personnel who facilitated their entry to Jordan through the King Hussein Bridge crossing.
Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Wilfredo Santos, who welcomed them at the border, also met King Hussein Border Authority Head Col. Rafat Al Maietah.
The two officials discussed the possible crossing of more Filipinos from the West Bank when the situation in the area further escalates, the embassy said.

t Bank amid an Israeli military offensive on the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Israel last month.
According to the Palestinian Authority Health Ministry, at least 218 Palestinians have been killed and around 2,850 others injured by Israeli forces in the West Bank since Oct. 7.
