5-day police ops net 85 wanted persons in Bicol


LEGAZPI CITY: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has arrested 85 wanted persons, including a communist rebel, from the six provinces and one independent component city of the region during a five-day operation.

In a report Friday, Lt. Col. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, PRO-5 spokesperson, said the apprehended individuals during the Aug. 5 to 9 operations included 15 most wanted persons and 70 other wanted persons.

Albay had the highest number of arrests with 25 and Catanduanes the lowest with two.

Meanwhile, Camarines Sur police arrested 23 individuals; Masbate, 15; Sorsogon, 11; Naga City, six; and Camarines Norte, three.

Calubaquib said among the 15 most wanted persons arrested, the notable arrests were the Nos. 7 and 10.

No. 7 “Sam,” 48, of Milagros, Masbate is facing multiple charges of murder, with the first case dated July 13, 2021. No bail was recommended.

Calubaquib said Sam is also a member of the Kilusang Larangang Guerilla North Sud-Regional Command 4, Bicol Regional Party Committee, under
the command of Luding Tolingen, which operates within the Second District of Masbate.

Meanwhile, in Camarines Norte, the regional No. 10 most wanted, “Tiyo Erwin,” was arrested for three counts of acts of lasciviousness.
