malaysiangThe ongoing Career in Aviation Fair held in conjunction with the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS 2024) at Skypark Regional Aviation Centre here, has brought forth 3,459 vacancies from 40 employers in the aerospace and aviation industries for aspiring jobseekers.
State Human Resources and Poverty Eradication Committee chairman V. Papparaidu said the development of human capital in the state has always been one of its top priorities to ensure no one is left behind, thus benefitting from Selangor’s economic growth.
‘Until Aug 31, a total of 1,119,430 jobseekers have been placed to work under the MYFutureJobs initiative from the Human Resources Ministry through Socso (Social Security Organisation) with 268,009 placements coming from Selangor.
‘This testifies to the government’s initiative in activating the labour market activities through interventions which offer job opportunities to the talents and employers in Selangor especially,’ he said in his speech during the SAS 2024 Career Fair opening ceremony today.
Papparaidu also said that the substantial growth highlights the increasing opportunities for the state’s talent pool, signalling a positive momentum in the local job market.
Meanwhile, Human Resources Ministry secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof applauded the Selangor government’s initiative to coordinate and facilitate aerospace investment and industry, coherently supporting the goal set by Malaysia Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 to provide 32,000 high-quality high-skill jobs in the aerospace industry.
He said the Statistics Department recently announced that the national unemployment rate continued to decline in the second quarter of 2024, in line with increased demand for labour in the economic sector.
‘The labour force has grown by 2.5 per cent to 17.15 million people, primarily driven by a 2.8 per cent increase in the number of employed persons, which reached 16.59 million in June.
‘I believe this positive trend is driven by proactive policies and implementation by advanced states like Selang
or, offering high-valued jobs to the people like in this aerospace and aviation industry,’ he said.
Azman also expressed hope that the industry players can continue providing upskilling and reskilling opportunities to their employees and young graduates so they can be more productive in filling up the demands in the job market.
Earlier, eight business documents, involving memoranda of understanding (MoU) and Letters of Intent (LOIs) between the state agencies, higher learning education institutions, and aviation and aerospace companies were signed at the event.
One of the notable MoU is between Invest Selangor Berhad and Perbadanan Hal Ehwal Bekas Angkatan Tentera (PERHEBAT) of which both parties will collaborate to address talent issues in the aerospace industries and create a sustainable ecosystem for industry players operating in Selangor.
Another notable exchange of document is the LOI between Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre (AMIC), Universiti Malaya and UCSI College to engage in local bio-jet su
stainable aviation fuel development for a robust bio-feedstock supply chain.
