27 typhoon-hit Luzon LGUs to get P14.5-M aid from Davao City

DAVAO CITY: The city government will give calamity assistance worth PHP14.5 million to 27 provinces and local government units (LGUs) in Luzon affected by Typhoon Carina last month.

In a statement Wednesday night, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head Alfredo Baloran said the typhoon-hit LGUs include the towns of San Mateo, Rizal; Baco, Oriental Mindoro; and Macabebe, Pampanga.

The towns of Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro; Bauang, La Union; Cainta, Rizal; Paombong, Bulacan; San Andres, Romblon; Camiling, Tarlac; and Plaridel, Bulacan, are also included.

The cities to get financial assistance include San Juan in Metro Manila; Quezon City, Caloocan, Marikina, Manila, Navotas, Valenzuela, Mandaluyong, Pasay, Malabon; and Meycauayan in Bulacan province.

The provinces of Bataan, Rizal, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, and Batangas are also included.

‘It has been a practice of the city to provide cash assistance to LGUs hit by calamities, regardless of whether they asked for the city’s aid,’
Baloran said.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod has authorized the city government to source cash assistance from the 30 percent quick response fund (QRF) out of its 5 percent Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (DRRMF) for 2024.

In February this year, the city government also extended PHP6.1 million from its QRF to give financial assistance to 15 LGUs in the regions of Davao and Caraga that were affected by disasters.
