24 TEAMS TO VIE FOR HONOURS AS MCKK PREMIER 7S RUGBY TOURNAMENT RETURNS


KUALA LUMPUR, The 12th edition of the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) Premier 7s Rugby Tournament is returning with stiff competition from 24 participating schools, taking place from June 28 to June 30.

The MCKK in a statement said this year’s edition of the tournament, organised in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, will include international teams from Japan, Indonesia, and Taiwan.

‘These teams will be vying for the coveted NJ Ryan Trophy and the Zaharuddin Alias Best Player Award, adding a global dimension to the competition that sports fans eagerly anticipate.

‘The three-day event will see the return of former champions like SMK Jalan Tiga (ARAS), Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar (EC) Johor Bahru, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI), and the host team, MCKK,’ it said.

The MCKK added that other formidable contenders including Royal Military College (MTD), SMK Victoria (VI) Kuala Lumpur, and Sultan Alam Shah School (SAS) Putrajaya, will also compete for the championship crown, ensuring
a thrilling tournament.

The MCKK Premier 7s has been instrumental in inspiring young rugby players to showcase their talent.

For the record, last year’s edition saw SMK Jalan Tiga (ARAS) clinch the championship title in their debut appearance, stunning the crowd with a commanding 24-0 victory over Sekolah Sukan Malaysia Pahang (SSMP) in the final.
