2,051 Dengue Cases, Two Deaths Recorded In Kelantan From Jan-Sept

KOTA BHARU, A total of 2,051 dengue cases were reported in Kelantan between Jan 1 and Sept 7, an increase of 8.4 per cent compared to 1,892 cases in the same period last year.

Kelantan Health Department (JKNK) director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said, there were two deaths due to the disease during the period.

“Some 129 dengue outbreaks were reported up to Sept 7, compared to 150 outbreaks in the same period last year. Of these, 96 outbreaks have been resolved while 33 are still active.

‘There are seven dengue hotspot areas in Kelantan, with two still active and the rest resolved,” he told reporters here today.

Dr Zaini added that the department has inspected 365,741 premises and issued 1,732 compounds worth RM866,000 to owners of premises where Aedes breeding grounds were detected, in accordance with the Destruction of Disease-Bearing Insects Act 1975 (Act 154).
