2024 Paralympics Yusof Hafizi, Muhammad Adi Raimie Fail To Enter Time Trial Final

PARIS, National para cycling champion, Mohamad Yusof Hafizi and fellow teammate Muhammad Adi Raimie Amizazahan both failed to qualify for the men’s C1-3 1,000m time trial (physical disability) at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games today.

Yusof Hafizi finished eighth overall with a time of 1 minute 09.487 seconds (s) while Muhammad Adi Raimie finished 11th with a time of 1:13.780 s at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome, near here.

Chinese cyclist Li Zhangyu dominated the event with a time of 1:03.777 s. Only the top six cyclists in the heats qualify for the final.

National para cycling head coach Johari Mohd Nayan was satisfied with Yusof Hafizi as he maintained his top three ranking in his class, matching his achievement when he won the bronze in the men’s C1 1,000 m time trial at the World Championships in Brazil, last March.

‘For me, the overall performance of both riders are okay and there’s no problems today, only I hope Muhammad Adi Raimie will try to earn a top 20 finish in the men’s C1-3 road ra
ce on Sept 7 as he has a better chance compared to Yusof Hafizi,’ he told Bernama.

He added that he hoped to see Yusof Hafizi finish the road race as he failed to do so during his debut in Tokyo 2020.

Yusof had failed to qualify for the finals of the men’s individual C1 3,000m pursuit after finishing fifth out of seven cyclists overall with a time of 3:55.254 s, while Muhammad Adi Raimie lost his chance to enter the finals of the men’s individual C3 3,000m pursuit when he finished last with a time of 3:47.922s in the qualifying round.
