BUTUAN: The Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) has announced the deployment of 1,754 personnel tasked to ensure the peaceful and orderly observance of Holy Week in the area.
‘These police personnel will be deployed in strategic areas in the different provinces, cities, and municipalities in the region to ensure the safety of the residents during the Holy Week,’ PRO-13 director, Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft, in a statement Tuesday.
During the period, Kraft said more troops will be deployed on the streets to secure devotees and vacationers expected to gather in churches and other places of worship until March 31.
Kraft also personally checked the deployment of police officers in Butuan City considering that most of the terminals, ports, and commercial areas are located in the city.
‘I implore for the cooperation and support of every peace-loving citizen for a safe and secured observance of the Holy Week. Let us use this time in reflecting and fulfilling our spiritual needs,’ the police offi
cial said.
Maximize deployment
Elsewhere, the Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) said Tuesday it will maximize deployment to assist Holy Week-related activities in churches.
In a press briefing, Leonardo Pamplona, the acting division head for Traffic Enforcement and Street Management Division of CTTMO, said Dabawenyos should expect road closures in areas within or near churches during the Holy Week.
At least 300 personnel, he said, will be deployed in checkpoints and border areas, such as in Panacan, Bunawan, Calinan, Mintal, and Toril.
‘There will be sufficient CTTMO personnel to help marshal processions. The personnel shall also help manage parking in churches,’ he added.
